Autumn Equinox Magic – bring your creativity and sense of adventure

As the first whispers of autumn begin to rustle through Talbot Woods, we invite you to an afternoon where craft, community, and storytelling come together to welcome the changing season.

On Saturday, 13 September, gather at the Slades Park Pavilion Café as the day unfolds like a familiar story:

You’ll start with a burst of creativity from 2 to 3:30 pm, when Rosie from CoCreate will be guiding families to make wind mobiles. Each colourful creation is more than decoration – it’s a little friendship with the wind itself, catching whispers of change on its dancing ribbons. The workshop is £3 per person, and places are limited, so please book in advance to join in the fun.

Then, as the golden afternoon light deepens, we’ll gather for the heart of the event. At 4 pm, we’ll step out into the woods in a joyful procession, heading toward the glowing hearth of a campfire where stories come alive.

Here, around crackling embers, Martin Coyne and the mischievous Dorset storytellers Warrow and Wurzle will spin their tales: an enchanting woodland adventure to help the Wind find his way back to Talbot Woods. Expect whooshes, hoots, and giggles as nature, friendship, and the delight of storytelling blend under the canopy of ancient trees. The storytelling is free and open to all, welcoming families young and old to share in its magic.

More than just an event…This is a moment wrapped in warmth and community – a gentle invitation to lift our faces to the breeze, share in imaginative play, and carry a little spark of wonder into the turning season.
