Spring Awakens: Join Us for Crafting, Storytelling, and Celebrating the Equinox

29 January, 2025

Experience the enchantment of the changing seasons with nature-inspired crafts and captivating storytelling at Slades Park this Spring Equinox!

Join us for a magical celebration of the Spring Equinox with a nature-based craft and storytelling event at Slades Park!

As the days grow longer and nature begins to awaken, we invite you to join us for a day of creative expression, enchanting stories, and connection with the natural world. Our Spring Equinox Event on Saturday, 22nd March is a perfect way to welcome in the season of renewal, growth, and balance.

Nature-Inspired Craft Workshops

Our talented artists from CoCreate will be leading three nature-based craft workshops designed to celebrate the arrival of spring.

  • 11:00 am – 1:00 pm: Willow and Woven Bird Staffs
This advanced workshop is for those with dexterous fingers and an interest in crafting nature-inspired items. It’s suitable for adults and children aged 10 and over. Participants will create their own willow bird staffs, perfect for symbolising the strength and growth of the new season.
  • 2:30 pm & 3:00 pm: Woodland Wands for Families
These two workshops are designed for families with younger children. Together, you’ll make woodland wands inspired by the natural beauty around us. A perfect activity to encourage creativity and imagination in children of all ages!

Spring Procession and Storytelling

After the workshops, we’ll meet at 4:00 pm at the Slades Park Pavilion Café for a procession into the woods. Exercising our bird staffs and woodland wands, we’ll ‘tickle the trees awake’ as we welcome the spring. The walk will lead us to our fire circle, where we’ll gather around to listen to folk stories that celebrate the season of renewal.

After the stories, we’ll toast marshmallows around the fire, sharing warmth and community. We’ll supply marshmallows and skewers, but do bring your own too!

Important Information:

  • All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult during the event.
  • Workshop places are limited, so please ensure to book your tickets for the crafting sessions ahead of time. You can reserve your spot via Eventbrite here.
