We are delighted to announce that the Talbot Village Trust Small Grants Programme is now open and accepting applications.
We are delighted to announce that the Talbot Village Trust Small Grants Programme is now open and accepting applications.
Following feedback from local charities and community groups, the programme has moved to a monthly rolling application process, helping us distribute funding more quickly and respond to emerging local needs throughout the year across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, East Dorset and Purbeck. As a result, there are no application deadlines, and submissions are welcome at any time.
What Can Be Funded?
The programme can support:
- Core and operating costs
- Project costs
- Small capital items, such as equipment and minor repairs
Grant Details
- Grants of up to £5,000
- Open to organisations with an annual turnover under £250,000
- No matched funding required
- There are no application deadlines, and submissions are welcome at any time
- The majority of Small Grant awards in 2025 averaged around £3,000
We prioritise grassroots, locally based charities and community organisations operating within our area of benefit.
We particularly welcome applications from:
- Smaller community organisations
- First-time applicants
- Organisations that have not received funding from Talbot Village Trust under the Small Grants Programme within the last 18 months
Local Branches of National Charities
We do not usually fund national charities. However, we may consider applications from local branches where they:
- Manage their own finances and are not fundraising for the national body
- Are run locally and deliver services within our area of benefit
- Have their own board, or a clear agreement from the national office authorising them to manage local funds and activities
- Can demonstrate that the grant will be used solely for work in the local area
Application Process
The application process is straightforward:
- Apply online via our website
- Upload supporting documents, images and other relevant media
- Shortlisting outcomes are usually provided within 2–3 weeks of submission
- Assessment calls or site visits may be arranged where appropriate
- Decisions are typically made within 5 weeks of submission
Once an award has been approved and any conditions in the offer letter have been met, funds can be drawn down as soon as they are required. Please allow approximately 3–5 weeks for funds to reach your bank account following a drawdown request.
Successful applicants will be required to submit an end-of-project report.
Important Information
We cannot fund work that has already been completed or projects that have fully started before the Trustees’ decision. However, later phases of a project or new activities may be eligible for support.
