Welcoming Autumn in Talbot Woods

25 September, 2025

Families and friends gathered at Slades Park Pavilion Café to celebrate the arrival of autumn with creative workshops, storytelling, and a joyful community campfire in Talbot Woodland.

On Saturday, 13 September, families and friends gathered at the Slades Park Pavilion Café for an afternoon celebrating creativity, community, and the start of autumn.

The day began with a wind mobile workshop led by Rosie and Sarah from CoCreate. Children and adults alike enjoyed making colourful mobiles that caught the breeze — a fun, hands-on way to connect with the changing season.

In the late afternoon, everyone joined a cheerful procession into Talbot Woodland, leading to a campfire where stories came to life. Around the fire, storyteller Martin Coyne and the Dorset duo Warrow and Wurzle entertained the crowd with lively tales about helping the Wind find his way home. Their mix of humour, sound effects, and imagination kept all ages engaged. To listen to the stories, visit our YouTube channel.

It was a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon, bringing people together to share creativity, laughter, and a sense of connection with nature.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the event such a success — and to Rosie, Sarah, Martin, Warrow and Wurzle for their wonderful contributions.

We look forward to seeing you again for future community events at Slades Park and Talbot Woodland. Our next seasonal celebration is the Winter Solstice on Saturday 20th December.
